Zack is 7 years old and is bedwetting since he was toilet trained. Initially we kept him in pull-ups at night when we first potty trained him, but from 4 and a half onwards, we went cold turkey and left them off him.

Week 1
Well this week went just as expected.  We stopped all drinks for Zack from 6 pm but had to put up with tantrums and begging for drinks up until bedtime but we stayed strong and didn't give in like we normally would of. So day 1 he was wet, day 2 wet, day 3 wet, day 4 dry, day 5 wet, day 6 and 7 dry.

So tonight we're starting day 1 of the alarm and continuing with the no drinks from 6pm, so here's hoping we aren't woken a zillion times!!

Week 2
So this past week has been let's say interesting!

Monday night Zack went off to bed with the bedwetting alarm and just before he went to sleep went for a final wee, I expected to be up at least once so when I woke Tuesday morning I was delighted to find a dry bed. So Tuesday night we done the same and again had a dry night this was followed by Wednesday and Thursday night!!! 4 dry nights in a row, both Zack and myself were just delighted but then Friday and Saturday night it was back to wet again. So I don't know if it was Zack just knowing the alarm was on him that had him dry and then because of the late nights Friday and sat he was wet because last night he was back to normal bedtime and was dry again so 5 dry nights out of 7 is fantastic and the best he's ever done.

I'm looking forward to the week ahead with the alarm to see if the effects stay the same but unfortunately I'm all too familiar with bed wetting from an older child of mine and I know there are times you get your hopes up after 1 or 2 dry nights only to be followed by a month of floods!

But I've never seen 4 nights in a row before so fingers crossed.

Week 3
"WARNING FLOOD ALERT"
So after our very successful week two I was excited to be continuing with the alarm . Now having years of experience with bedwetting it was a bit silly of me to think we'd found "the cure", it wasn't to be unfortunately as Zack was wet every night this week.

We'd done exactly the same as week two and stopped fluids a few hours before bedtime and Zack went to the toilet before he went to sleep, but within 4 hours every night the alarm would go off and we'd take him out of bed and get him into fresh underwear and reattach the alarm.

So I'm really looking forward to the week ahead using tablets that my doctor prescribed to help Zack control his bedwetting.

Week 4
Week 4 went very well, as I had expected. Zack has been prescribed these tablets before and we always found them great so I was really looking forward to the break from wet beds for the week! We did have two wet nights though, but both of these were on days when Zack had been drinking a huge amount as he was at parties on these afternoons.

The prescription drugs really do work and they give the child a real confidence boost knowing that they will be dry in the morning, so it takes a lot of pressure off both the child and the parent. Unfortunately doctors will only prescribe them on a short term basis to give the child a break as when they come off them they can revert back to bedwetting, especially if the bladder needs training to be able to hold more urine.

We'll finish our course of the tablets and then get back to the bladder exercises that have been recommended to us by our consultant at the hospital where we attend an enuresis clinic. The tablets are a really good solution that works, now to find a cure!
