Áine McKenna is a ceramic designer and artist, she creates giftware items made from porcelain paper clay with the intention that the pieces look like paper. Her unique product ranges include porcelain paper bags (a little bag of love) and porcelain envelopes (love letters), before the envelope is sealed and fired a love note is placed inside, so the words burn away in the kiln. Burning has long been a ritual for release and renewal. Love letters is a burning ritual for cleansing and letting go of the old and welcoming the new.
Áine also makes a range of illustrated ceramics called Sketchbook. The vessels which look like a page from a sketchbook have hand drawn imagery applied to the ceramic body.
