Epi-Care Free Mobile

Epi-Care Free Mobile is a wrist-worn sensor designed to detect seizures associated with tonic clonic epilepsy. Bringing new wireless technology to the care of people suffering with epilepsy, the Epi-Care Free Mobile provides safety features that are second to none. The sensor, which is paired with an Android smartphone, will not only detect seizures during the night when the wearer is in bed but also when the wearer is going about their normal daily routine. This allows great freedom to the wearer and to their family and caregivers.

The sensor
The Epi-Care Free sensor is worn around the wrist in much the same way as a watch would be worn. The sensor makes ongoing and very precise measurements of any movement in the wrist and is able to recognise the difference between epileptic and normal movements. The sensor has a 2 way wireless connection between itself and the Android smartphone. When a seizure with motor activity occurs the sensor sends a signal to the phone.
The phone will then send text messages, with location details of the wearer, and make a voice call to the designated contacts.

Location based contacts can be set up, for example there could be one set of contacts for when the person is at home and another set of contacts for when the person is at work, school or college.

The Epi-Care Mobile App
The Epi-Care Mobile App, which is constantly running on the Android smartphone, monitors the sensor at all times. Warnings will be given, via text messages, if the phone loses contact with the sensor, if the sensor battery is low or if a fault is detected with the sensor. A warning will also be sent if the battery on the phone needs recharging.

There is a log function built into the App. which keeps a record of events. This log, which can be viewed on the phone or emailed directly from the phone, is a very useful diagnostic tool as it allows medical staff to get precise information on the frequency of seizures.

We are looking for two MummyPages fans, with children over the age of ten, to test out the Epi-Care Free Mobile epilepsy alarm. The product is valued at €1,200 and includes the sensor and App. Entrants will get the chance to create a vlog to discuss her and her child’s experience with the Epi-Care Free Mobile.

To be in with a chance of participating in this trial, please join the group and leave a comment. Please advise if your child is over the age on ten and that both you and your child have android phones. In the event that we are oversubscribed, we will make our selection at random from qualifying entries.

My little niece Kate has a genetic condition that causes her to have seizures and she also has autism. This is a fantastic idea. It would give her mum and dad great peace of mind as Kate is also non verbal and gets seizures regularly. Would love them to trial this product and give them the gift of s little but of peace of mind with my beautiful niece

Wow. This is an amazing device, Something like this could really relieve a lot of the worries that are related to having Epilepsy & always worrying about being on your own with your kids when you have a seizure. I have Grande mal & Temperal lobe Epilepsy & one of my biggest fears is for my Kids well being during a seizure, although i have advised them on what to do it is still a very worrying & traumatic experience for the children to see mummy having a seizure. I have 2 live in step kids 13&15 & my 2 sons 6&8. Whatever will technology come up with next fabulous device xx

I am very eager to take part in this trial. I have a 16 year old son and a 16 month old son and I take tonic clinic seizures. An alarm of this kind would be invaluable to both myself and my children
