It's 4 weeks since I met with the Health Coach at Lloyds Pharmacy and things are going well (most days:)). The Pharmacist I met was so down to earth and friendly. The advice she gave me was very achievable in my quest to have a healthier diet after getting into some very bad habits! She suggested the "My Fitness Pal" app which is really easy to use and a great way to log calories. She also suggested that I log my results weekly in the booklet which has given me a boost each week. I have definitely improved in terms of what I am eating and when I am eating and I am feeling a lot more energic which is great. I'm looking forward to see what I can achieve in the next 4 weeks:)

I have never enlisted in any sort of programme for my health before. I was never interested in the gym or yoga, maybe because I was always on the slim side even after baby number two. But now that I’m in my 40’s and navigating the period after baby number three…let’s just say it’s not as easy shifting those extra few pounds as it once was. I needed focus and motivation which is why I decided to take part in the LloydsPharmacy ‘Change Your Health Direction’ programme.
I visited the Health Coach in my local LloydsPharmacy and went through my list of concerns regarding my physical and mental health. It was a lovely experience, being brought into a private consultation room and really listened to. My LloydsPharmacy Health Coach was very helpful regarding exercise and diet shifts as well as extra vitamins and minerals that I could take to help me reach my goals. So far, I have seen a definite boost in my mood and energy levels and I’m looking forward to seeing even bigger changes in the weeks to come.

I was thrilled to be accepted on to the LloydsPharmacy Change Your Health Direction 8-week programme. To be honest it was just the kind of motivation I needed to get my act together.
Since having a baby over a year ago and returning to full-time work when she was just six months old, I haven't been taking care of myself. I’m a first-time mum and so I found the whole experience quite overwhelming. As such my diet definitely suffered and I reached for quick and easy meal solutions, which to be honest weren’t the healthiest. Then when I returned to work, I found that I just had so little time to prepare decent meals. Since my daughter was fed in crèche, and my fiancé got his meals courtesy of his job, it felt like there was just no point in cooking for one.
The weekends are so precious that again I didn’t want to start spending all my time in the kitchen, plus there are so many other jobs I need to catch up on while trying to fit in quality time with my family.
The truth of it is, my lack of attention to the kinds of food I was putting in my body was having a profound effect on my skin, waistline and my digestive system. I had started to suffer from what I thought was IBS.
Meeting my LloydsPharmacy health coach has really helped me stay on track. We analysed my food intake in week 1 and then she made suggestions around foods to eat and pointed me to some quick and easy recipes for weeks 2 to 4.
We also looked at my water intake which was shockingly poor and some probiotics to improve my gut health. Having the weekly meetings is really helping me to stay on track and I’m slowly starting to see results. I can’t wait to see how I’m feeling at the end of the 8 weeks!

I'm delighted to be taking part in the Lloyds Pharmacy Change Your Health Direction programme as it is helping me to really focus on my own general health and wellbeing - I find that as a mum of 3, I tend to put my own needs aside while taking care of everyone else! So having met with my Health Coach about 4 weeks ago I'm paying more attention to what I'm eating (she gave me some very useful information to take away to help with my diet) and also trying to get more sleep - increased energy is one of my goals. So far it's working well, I'm getting a better routine in place for example cutting out nighttime snacks and getting to bed earlier, therefore waking up without the alarm and feeling more energised.
I'm also interested in getting a better skincare routine in place and will discuss this with my Health Coach on my next visit.

I was a bit nervous the first time I popped into Lloyds to meet with the Health coach but she was so lovely! Usually when you mention stopping smoking people either begin to lecture you on why you should stop or they ask will you be able to do it?
She asked me what my main motivation was, how long I had been smoking, why I thought I smoked and had I tried to quit previously. As I explained I was giving them up because I had promised my 4 children that I would stop smoking before I was 40 she smiled and said right lets get you there!

She recommended a number of stop smoking support websites and apps such as quit.ie and the smoke free app. Both monitor the savings you make and how your health improves. She also discussed the various stop smoking aids available from Lloyds such as Nicorette quick mist or the patches. I decided on the quick mist and set my date in my head. The consultant couldn’t have been more helpful or supportive! I pop in every week to let her know how I’m doing!
28 days smoke free and counting! Plus I have saved over €350 so I treated myself to my favourite perfume the last time I was visiting my health coach in Lloyds!

I have just completed week eight of the LloydsPharmacy ‘Change Your Health Direction’ challenge and I can confidently say that not only has my health moved in a more positive direction but the programme has made a lasting change on my lifestyle.
It wasn’t so much about what was going on with me on the outside with poor skin and hair loss, not to mention carrying a few extra pounds. It was more about what was going on for me on the inside, with extreme tiredness, low mood and my overall well-being. With the help of my Health Coach I assessed my lifestyle, my diet and how that was impacting on my physical and mental health.
It became apparent that I was not looking after myself. However with some guidance, motivation and weekly check-ins I finally engaged in the self-care my body and brain so desperately needed.
Two months later, I am happy to report that my energy levels have much improved with the right diet, supplements, exercise and sleep. My hair and skin are looking a whole lot healthier and I have my glow, not to mention my confidence back. The extra weight that I had been carrying just fell off without any restrictive diet, rather the healthier approach I took to food for my other health concerns had a knock on effect on my weight too. I am delighted with the results and see this as my new way of life for a healthier and happier me.

So my 8 week are over following the LloydsPharmacy Trial and to be honest the changes just seem natural now rather than being on a programme. At the start of the programme I definitely had some bad eating habbits and lacked energy. Following my initial chat at Lloyds Pharmacy I got some great tools to put me on the right track (i.e. use the "My Fitness Pal" app to track calories and log my results weekly in my journal to keep track).

I'll be honest and say that I still have good days and bad days but I am definitely a lot more aware of the foods I am eating and the fact that I have a lot more energy these days. I have tried other programmes to manage my weight but this was more of a common sense and awareness approach rather than feeling like I was restricted. The staff were so helpful and full of advice that was easy to follow rather than being complicated or restrictive.
Now that the 8 weeks are over I feel like I have tools to keep me healthy for life as they are now just naturally part of my daily life (healthy meal choices and small amounts of exercise daily. I feel better and certainly have more energy. Thanks to the Pharmacist and all the team at Lloyds...I have really enjoyed the process!

So now my 8-weeks are over and I am so happy I took part in the LloydsPharmacy Change Your Health Direction programme. I wasn't sure I'd be able to stick to any sort of major change in my diet and lifestyle habits but the weekly check-in at my local LloydsPharmacy has really kept me on track.
I am now eating better and the ripple effect on every other part of my life has been incredible. Together with better food choices, a daily probiotic and some vitamin and mineral supplements I now have more energy, I'm sleeping better and my IBS has really improved. It took a lot of planning at the beginning because I work full-time, but with some batch cooking and simple recipes, I now feel more in control of my life and I have saved some money too on takeaways!
I can't believe how much these small changes have made to my mood and my overall health. I now have more energy to play with my little girl in the evening when I collect her from creche. I have also seen an improvement in how my clothes fit and I've finally ditched my maternity jeans with the hidden elastic waistband!

Having completed the Loyds Pharmacy Change Your Health Direction programme, I’m very happy with my new health and wellness plan. I’m eating healthier, have a regular exercise plan in place, a better skincare routine and increased energy levels, and an altogether more positive outlook.

I’ve never done any kind of health programne before. The fact that it was free then made it easier to commit as I probably would never have paid for such a programme thinking I didn’t need one.

I met with my health coach (in Lloyds Pharmacy Leopardstown) 4 times over the course of the 8 weeks. Each time she had plenty of time to listen and help. My last couple of visits were focused on skincare and thanks to my coach, I now have a much better routine in place. She recommended some products for my skin type but I never felt under obligation to purchase in their store.

One of my goals was energy and fitness. Thanks to this programme I have now achieved an exercise goal I’ve had for ages - 30 mins a day on an exercise bike 5 days a week. Sounds easy to fit in but I could never seem to. Doing this programme really helped me to focus on my own goals and I’ve now found the time to make this happen. My children are enthusiastic and supportive (the older guys take care of their sister while I exercise) - they are also aware of the importance of regular exercise. My husband has been inspired now too to get exercising! So changing my own health direction has inspired my family too.

So 8 weeks are over in the LloydsPharmacy Change Your Health Direction programme. Well actually its more like 9 ......sorry lads back to school madness with 4 kids .....time as per usual ran away with me! Did I keep it up? Am I still off the cigarettes ???
100% not one cigarette smoked in over 9 weeks! I couldnt have done it without alot of willpower and the fantastic support I got from the girls in LLoyds Pharmacy in Stillorgan! I will never go back now! They have been a life saver as you can get quite ill after giving up smoking as your body rids itself of the toxins (remember any battle you want to win is tough at the start!) The team in LLoyds have been brilliant recommending health supplements Vitamin B12 is my new best friend! They have also been on hand for my prescriptions etc. Nothing is too much trouble for the team.
I am actually going to continue with the Health Coach as I have put on about a stone since giving up smoking and with summer and eating out etc! Now the kiddos are back to school I'm getting myself back to the gym, and focusing with my health coach on nutrition and healthy, sustainable weight loss!
I found the whole experience fantastic and would highly recommend the Health Coach programme in Lloyds Pharmacy to anyone! As mums we often put ourselves last but we cannot be the best version of us for our family if we do that! Get yourself down to your local LLoyds Pharmacy and look after you!
