Feedback for Peugeot 5008 SUV

I felt extremely lucky to have been given the opportunity to trial the Peugeot 5008 SUV on a week when I needed it most. I have three children aged 7, 6 and 3 and I’ve been searching for a 7-seater that ticks all my (very fussy) boxes for our busy family life. The car of our dreams had to be affordable, safe, functional but sleek, economical, intelligent and that fit a hectic family of five. The week I drove this car the children had gymnastics camp so I was delighted to finally reciprocate some of the car-pooling that I owed. Every day we collected and dropped home two of our neighbour’s children, and ferried them, along with my three to camp and back. Their gear was thrown in, along with all my shopping, spare car seats, and many pairs of wellies (just in case!) with ease and everyone had a lot of space.

I really loved the various seat formations you have the option to use with the Peugeot 5008; Two in the back, two in the middle, with one seat down for easy access or to put bags on. Two in the back, three in the middle to use all the available space, or as I had it while it was just my kids, two in the back (the novelty!) and one in the middle row. The seats fold completely down so if like us, you sometimes need the car to turn into a van, you can fit some large IKEA furniture, move a mattress, or bring home some seriously high shrubs from the garden centre (welcome to my crazy life).
I feel like I’ve finally found the right car for our family, and it has been seriously hard to return to my old car, albeit temporarily. I miss the state-of-the-art technology the Peugeot 5008 SUV has - which included some very smart functionality like the lane departure warning and the handy child lock button (so you don’t have to get out if your back seat companions are adults). I loved the steering wheel which is not traditionally circular, and much smaller but it made sense, and it is hard going back to my bigger bulky wheel (I drive a 5 series BMW hatchback, normally). I’m not really a ‘gadget’ person but the iCock-pit (specially designed control panels) actually made my driving experience so much more enjoyable. As someone who spends a LOT of time in the car, I really appreciated the touch screen and smart piano key style dashboard.
Another detail I liked was the warning light if anyone (the bold one in the back) takes off their seatbelt. Some of the other safety features are also very important to me, the speed limit recognition, auto hazard lights and a warning message if you get too close to the car in front. We really put the Peugeot 5008 to the test with a cinema trip (it skirted beautifully around the carpark) and the parking sensors made parking a breeze. I have struggled to find a 7-seater SUV that is elegant as well as being really functional but the Peugeot 5008 fit the bill beautifully. It isn’t as chunky as some other larger family cars and it is certainly a lot more fuel efficient. I really loved this sophisticated car that suited our family perfectly. The children gave it three big thumbs up too and even the world’s fussiest hubby was sold. If you are looking for an elegant SUV that is affordable, smart, safe and a joy to drive, the Peugeot 5008 SUV is definitely the car for you.

I’m a Dublin mum of three kids aged 9, 7 and 3. I had the pleasure of test driving the new Peugeot 5008 this month and I’m delighted to be able to give such a positive review.

I hadn’t heard anything about the new 5008 SUV until I spotted the group on MummyPages. The first thing that struck me when I arrived to collect the car was just how good looking the 5008 SUV is. It’s really elegant but also sturdy and it doesn’t have that ‘mommy wagon’ look that so many family cars/ 7 seaters have. I drive a 7 seater family car and I had resigned myself to the fact that while I’m driving a 7 seater that the aesthetics are going to have to take back seat (pardon the pun). The 5008 has the 7 seats and all the space but looks great.
When I sat in to the car the first thing I noticed was just how comfortable it is and the height that it offers. There’s no crouching down to get in to the seat and the additional height gives you a greater sense of security when you’re driving. The other really important benefit of the height of the 5008 is that it makes getting toddlers, baby seats, shopping etc in and out of the car so much easier. That wasn’t something I really considered until I realised how easy packing and unpacking the 5008 was. That’s something that I really miss now that I’m back to my low down estate.

On my first ‘tour’ of the car I was really impressed by the size of the boot. Again, with three kids we would often have scooters, shopping, sports gear, footballs etc in the boot and the size of the 5008 meant that, over that week, space was not an issue.
The space across the back seat is great too, there are three individual seats all with their own isofix attachment and they all move separately so our baby seat and two boosters fit in easily which is not always the case. The 2 additional seats in the third row are fantastic for any family. Since we had our third child we have always needed a 7 seater to accommodate playdates, cousins, lifts here and there. The extra seats are incredibly easy to pop up and to put down again, light as a feather with little or no effort required at all which is really handy especially if you’re herding 5 children in to the car and trying to keep an eye on them all at the same time.
There were so many great features that I was shown on day 1 so I won’t go through them all but some of the stand out features for me were the i-cockpit and the display on the dash. I was able to connect my phone at the beginning of each journey and because of the large 8 inch screen I could see my map app really clearly and hear the instructions (a godsend for someone like me who really doesn’t know how to get anywhere without my maps app). It was also great for the air con, the week I had the car happened to be one of the hottest weeks of the year so I was constantly turning on and off the air con which was so easy to do on the large touch screen so I didn’t have to take my eyes off the road for a second. Another feature that I was really impressed by was the driver attention alert – if you got momentarily distracted by a screaming child this safety feature activates to ensure that you don’t veer out of the lane, so important for mums and dads with a car full of children. The digital speedometer is really large and clearly displayed high up on the dash so you are aware of the speed you’re travelling at constantly without having to look down, it will also pick up the speed limit on the road you are travelling and will display that also which is great on roads like the M50 where there are three different limits depending on what stretch of road you are on.

I really loved driving the Peugeot 5008, I knew I really liked it from the moment I sat into it and drove off for the first time. I didn’t realise HOW MUCH I really liked it until I sat back in to my own 7 seater. I miss driving the Peugeot 5008 and the admiring glances when I pulled up beside other cars at traffic lights.

I would definitely recommend the Peugeot 5008 as a family car and I would really consider it as the next car for my own family.
